boko haram’s furore: Northern Youths Will Face You if You Attack Mosques or Muslims, Arewa Youths Warn MEND

Northern Youths Will Face You if You Attack Mosques or Muslims, Arewa Youths Warn MEND

Arewa Youths have indicated that they have had enough of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). The Arewa youths also warned MEND that any attempt at carrying out their threat to attack mosques and Muslims in retaliation for Boko Haram’s attack would be met with violence.

However pundits have questioned the anger of the Arewa youths. A notable pundit who gave NaijaPundit his thoughts said “if the Northern youths are so angry that MEND wants to retaliate against Boko Haram’s attack how do they want Southerners to feel when Boko Haram are actually bombing churches and killing Christians in their hundreds? After all MEND only threatened retaliation but Boko Haram has been actively killing us. Who should be angry? Is it them or us?”

My thought: why are they quick to respond to mere verbal threats, what would have been the case if the reverse had been the case? I don’t want to imagine it. I know the northerners it will be gory.

Real Boko Haram ’ll accept amnesty –Yuguda

Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isah Yuguda, has said the real members of the Boko Haram will accept the amnesty, which the Federal Government is proposing. He said those who were kicking against the amnesty package were the criminals and politically motivated among the members. Yuguda said it would be left for the government to deal with criminal and political members of the sect when the real members of the group embraced the proposed amnesty.

The Bauchi State governor, who spoke with journalists in Lagos last Saturday night, said there was a serious need to look into the issues that prompted the sect into its action, such as jobless and illiteracy. His words  “On the issue of Boko Haram, amnesty has been given to the real Boko Haram and I believe they are willing to accept it.

That is my belief but you know there is the criminal Boko Haram and there is the real Boko Haram. But the criminal and the political Boko Haram, they are the armed robbers and that arm of politicians that call themselves Boko Haram. “Maybe it is the criminal Boko Haram that are saying they don’t want amnesty because they have a different intention. Some of them are gun runners, some of them are armed robbers and some of them are doing that on behalf of politicians. So, they just hide under Boko Haram and perpetrate evil.

My thought: so it is true when people and reports said that Boko Haram are not ghost and that all the northern governors know them and communicate with them!

Go on With Amnesty for Boko Haram Say Arewa Consultative Forum

Go on With Amnesty for Boko Haram Say Arewa Consultative Forum

…hold emergency meeting in Minna

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has called on government to spell out clear terms and conditions for those who would decide to accept the amnesty offered members of the Boko Haram sect and benefit to them.

The ACF stated this during an emergency meeting at the weekend with its patrons, including former Heads of State, political and religious leaders over the proposed amnesty for members of the Islamic sect.

The forum, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Anthony Sani, said the crucial meeting was held in Minna to evaluate the Federal Government’s decision to consider the option of amnesty as an alternative course of action to the use of military force in the current campaigns to subdue Boko Haram and other insurgents in parts of the North.

My thoughts: of course you wish.

What pardon (AMNESTY) or sympathy do government has for the people that lost their family? That are forever maimed? That lost all their life savings / investment?
How Can you erase the permanent sorrow planted in the soul of southerners?
Ok, they are another sets of insurgents, what if, just what if after the amnesty and all the Boko Haram strikes again?

We’ve Committed No Wrong To Deserve Amnesty – Boko Haram

he leader of extremist group, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau has claimed in a statement that his group had “not committed any wrong to deserve amnesty.”

“Surprisingly, the Nigerian government is talking about granting us amnesty. What wrong have we done? On the contrary, it is we that should grant you pardon,” he said, listing what he described as the state’s “atrocities” against Muslims.

The Hausa language audio recording was distributed by email in a manner consistent with previous Boko Haram messages, and the voice was similar to that of previous Shekau statements.

President Goodluck Jonathan last week formed a panel to look at the possibility of offering an amnesty deal to the Islamists, whose insurgency has left more than 3 000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the military Joint Task Force (JTF).

Some northern religious and political leaders have been urging President Jonathan to grant an amnesty to members of Boko Haram as they say the army’s response to the insurgency is not bringing peace.

In 2009, former President Umar Musa Yar Adua granted an amnesty to thousands of militants wreaking havoc in the oil-rich Niger Delta in the south.
The violence fell dramatically but there are worrying warnings of further unrest in the Delta, analysts say.
